Sunburn from hell..

Ok.

Phuket is beautiful. I am having he best adventure of my life. spent yesterday on a longtail boat, cruising around the magical islands of phuket, being canoed through caves and riding elephants.

However, the day before I walked around all day in a singlet and only put sunscreen on once, which has developed into second degree burns, or as I call it the sunburn from hell.

So now I sit wasting this beautiful day in my hotel room, leaking from my shoulders, kicking myself for my stupidity and waiting for a doctor who can hopefully speak english and not charge me a fortune.

The joys of travel, take the good with the bad I say.

Anyways I will post more when I can move my arms and see straight.

Remember, slip, slop, slap.

I love it here

This place is amazing.

Ok. I had always heard that and went "yeah yeah it's probably ok", but it really is a great place.

Beautiful view, cool people and great food.

Oh yeah, plus I was drinking $3 Long Island Iced Teas last night.

I am in the hotel internet, so it is kind of expensive and I don't want to be long.

Exciting news- on my domestic flight going Bangkok- Phuket, the Amazing Race contestents caught the same flight. And as I expected it's all a shame. Camera crews set up and take multiple shots of them running to the ticket counter, and then they got off the plane and ran down the stairs, only to get held up by customs. Stupid fucking Americans.

Ahh they were wankers. They yelled at the Air stewardess because their large cameras didn't fit in the overhead lockers, they walked around the plane the whole flight to be sure no one was filming them and they were the biggest bunch of knobs.

But hey what do you really expect from American reality shows??

Today I am getting a suit taylor made. Silk shirt, cashmere (this thing doesn't have spell check) jacket, slacks, thai and a vest. All that for say $80 AUD.

I really do love it here. I'll try and jump on later and post some pictures on my facebook and email some peoples.

Hope everything is good back in Brisbane...

Peace.

Fucking Tourist

Yep, so today is the day. Nine months of planning and talking up what will be the greatest holiday ever.

Yes finally the day has come and I leave this evening, heading to Thailand for a month.

So how do I feel:
  • excited
  • hungry
  • apprehensive
  • hung over
  • tired
  • hungover
I feel really hung over. The idea last night was go out, have a few drinks and be home by 10pm.

What actually happened was I went out, had a lot of drinks, stumbled around in the rain, came home and had a drug cocktail of cold tablets and sleeping pills. In my drunken paranoia I was so scared that I would get a cold I thought it would be good to down some cold tablets.

So I was in bed by 3am, passed out and woke up today feeling groggy as hell and spent a good part of my morning hugging the toilet.

Joy.

Thankfully I have finally packed, double checked my double checking and now just have to wait for my flight which leaves at 11:45pm. I have Valium on hand so the minute it becomes too much I can dose myself with some warm and fuzzys. It will be nice.

On a side note I am such a fucking tourist. When asian people come here with their guidebooks, maps and billion camera and take pictures of random shit like the pig outside Hog Breath, I roll my eyes. Well now the tables have turned and I will be the stupid American tourist (I realise I'm not American, but hey we all look the same to them anyway) taking pictures of all the dumb shit I see, whether its a beautiful sunset or a piece of trash on the street.

Yes with two guide books, a phrase book, five bottles of maleria pills, two bottles of hand sanatiser and three cameras I am the fucking tourist.

This time tomorrow I'll be drinking beer on a thai beach. So tomorrow when you are at work, Uni, or home alone masterbating furiously think about me and be jealous. (Actually if you are masterbating furiously please don't think about me until after, that would be weird.)

I'll talk to you all soon.

Much love and all that stuff,

Aidan.

P.S I am way too hung over to proof read this blog, It's a miracle I can even write.

Peace, one love.

The Count Down Begins

The count down actually began back in April.

But here I am past the 'one month to go mark'. To be completely accurate I have 19 days and 6 hours until I board a plane to Phuket. Then I will be spending the next four weeks in amazing Thailand (Well I haven't been there yet so I can't say for sure it's amazing, but hey from what I have heard).

So for anyone who doesn't know this is the plan:

Eight Days in Phuket, staying in a very nice, touristy resort. And then up to Bangkok to start the real adventure. From Bangkok I am going north to Ayuthura (the old capital) then to Chiang Mai. From there I will be doing a three day hill trek though Northern Thailand.

Then over to Chiang Rai. This is also known as the Goldern Triangle where up until recently a lot of the world's heroin supply originated from. While in Chiang Rai I get to cross into Burma (Myanmar) for a day which will be fun...if I don't get shot.

From there I go down to Kanchiburi and back to Bangkok, where I will stay for five nights. During this time I plan on doing a buttload of shopping and truely experiencing the culture by going to ping pong shows.

I must say though, this damn Australian currency issue is getting me down. $1 AUS is currently buying 21 BAHT, which is still a good conversion, but 14 BAHT less than when I started planning the trip. Oh well it just means instead of two beers every hour, I'll just have one. The $150 USD that have to buy will be the main pain in the ass.

Anyway...please be sure to check in with the blog and have a read of what I am doing. I would love to hear from you while I'm away too. I don't want to be out of the loop! You can like subscribe by clicking 'follow this blog' and comment it and stuff. WOO!

Peace,

Aidan
